The Student Housing Company-Depot Point
Existing Technology
Existing lighting was 2D Fluorescent, T5, T8 Fluorescent batten fittings and other Fluorescent lights
In total 430 lights.
Issues
Depot Point is a very large Student Accommodation for University situated in the Centre of Kings cross area in Lincoln. The Student Housing Manager Anthony Thomas and Vanessa wanted to improve lighting in the corridor, communal, kitchen, court yard and art gallery area where the lighting particularly dark and dingy.
The old Fluorescent Emergency Lights were also failing and they required additional units to comply with new regulations.
Energy costs for the buildings were high due to some lights long opening per day.
The maintenance labour cost of the Fluorescent old fitting was very high and time consuming.
Solution
Corridor, kitchens and stairwells were all fitted with high efficacy LED panel lights.
The corridors communal rooms and facility rooms were transformed with the bright clean automatic Led lights. All the emergency lights were replaced with LED panel light and some bulkhead LED lights and the LED’s bringing the building blocks up to BS5266 guidelines.
The LED Battens were fitted for the art gallery.
All lights were supplied in 5000k daylight with span life 50,000 hours.
Overall the site is saving over £5,166 per year with a payback in 5 years.
There is no maintenance for LED lights.
